| 16 of 16 people found the following review helpful  Great thermometer but clear readout requires careful placement, Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: La Crosse Technology 306-605 Solar Window Outdoor Thermometer (Kitchen) The La Crosse Solar Window Outdoor Thermometer provides a large digital readout of the temperature, along with smaller readouts of minimum and maximum temps for the past 24 hours, and a clock readout. The present temperature is displayed in 1.5 inch numbers and can easily be read from across the room. My primary need was an easy-to-read outdoor temperature gauge and this meets that need very well.The unit also comes with two batteries: a standard AAA battery, and a rechargeable battery that is charged by a solar cell charger built in to the unit. The rechargeable battery powers a night-time light which switches on automatically in the evening. Placement of the gauge in your window is critical in getting the sharpest readout. If the gauge is placed too far below one's straight line of vision, the thermometer's numbers become quite difficult to read. I recommend placing the gauge at eye level or above. Cost for the tape $4.00. The unit would not illuminate at night. Contacted LaCrosse and was advised to ship the unit to them (insured and traceable). Keep in mind I had the unit for less than three days and was told I had to pay the shipping costs ($7.75). They will pay to ship the unit back(big of them on a unit under warranty).
